The destination of service in the way of Jesus is not charity, but kinship — strangers becoming family. In this final session of the Service Practice, we look at Jesus’ upside-down vision of community, where the marginalized are brought to the center and love takes the form of shared life. In Jesus’ vision, the practice of service is more than simply giving bread to the hungry; it’s breaking bread together as brothers and sisters. The call is costly, but it’s the very life Jesus invites us into: serving not from a safe distance, but by drawing near in love.
